My Infinite playlist

What record/song could you listen to over and over again forever seems to be the theme for this meme. But I don't have to pick only one, I can pick 5, so that's OK.

I was tagged by Very Bored in Catalunya  Thank you - sorry it's taken a while to get it done!

Without Further ado here are my 5 (you'll have to run off and search to hear them as I'm too lazy to link)

1. If you go away. By Marc Almond. - actually I could listen to this one alone forever....
2. Lose Yourself by Eminem - love Eminem's clever and witty lyrics. Often thought provoking, far too clever to be wasted on the young :-)
3.I Want you Now by The Feeling - have seen them on concert twice now, love this band and really like this song.
4. This ain't a love Song by Scouting for Girls - it's new but I'm loving it, it's floating round my head all the time, I sing along to it a lot.
5. was tempted by Rabbit Heart by Florence and the Machine for my last one but decided to go with Roxy Music's version of Jealous Guy, when I was 18 I made a tape of this song, just this song over and over on a 90 minute TDK Tape, so I know I can listen to it a lot. Still love it.

In case you missed it I'm quite into lyrics, probably more than tunes although they need to be good too.

What do you like? If you've read this far AND you leave a comment then consider your self tagged, tell me about your Infinite Playlist

Kreativ Blogger Award

It's a meme, and I'm doing it! Yippee I hear you squeal.....no?....was it a groan? oh well here it is anyway, you don't have to read it, just add a comment to say you did, who'll know?

I was given this nifty award by Chris at Thinly Spread and  SingleDadsDiary so thanks for that. The rules are fairly simple

1. You must thank the person who has given you the award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog. (I found the lovely logo above at Collapsing World which is a beautiful blog you may like to follow)
3. Link the person who has nominated you for the award. (see above!)
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting. (hmmm!)
5. Nominate 7 other Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Let the nominated victims bloggers know they have been tagged

So here are my 7 things.

1. I love Jelly Belly Jelly Beans to the extent I can eat them until I feel sick and the inside of my mouth is furry and yuck. They are blatantly the inspiration for the Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans in Harry Potter as they taste exactly like the thing they say they should. This is not a sponsored post for Jelly Bellys (more's the pity) but last year in the US I bought a 2lb bag of them, that my American friend probably thought I would eat on the plane, however I still have some left. I am eating them as I type.

2. I can't swim. I'm not sure if this is interesting or not. I loathe the water, I hate the feel of it closing over my head, the strange underwater sounds, the lack of air, the missing sensations, just argghh! I do not want to learn to swim. I live by the sea. My DD swims like a fish and has already finished her lifesaving course. I shall hang around with her.

3. I think I may have developed a slight tent fetish/lust, call it what you will. Gaining a free tent via freecycle a few years back reintroduced me to the love of camping and I recently bought two more tents. I may need help. Is there a Tents Anonymous? I joined the Camping & Caravanning Club but this doesn't seem to have been a good way forward as they just send me discounts for camping and a magazine with tent adverts in it!

4. I have a crush on @jasonbradbury (Jason from the Gadget Show) it's true he does look spookily like my husband. He has a zest for life fun and gadgets that is hard to ignore. He is also a very nice person, he replies to fans and even sends us free books. Follow him on Twitter, check out his Books and look at his Blog.

5. I am terrible at keeping secrets about myself. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I can keep others' secrets without a problem when asked, but personal things about me? far too happy to share.

6.  I am a moderator on 5 different Yahoo Groups. Focusing on dogs, CMT, my work, and recycling. I also have 7 active email addresses not including my work ones (two of them). I have 4 twitter accounts. I may be a geek.

7. I don't think I'm very interesting so finding 7 things was a struggle. I'm quite quirky and rarely serious. I'm happily married, have a daughter, dogs and stick insects. I am a Christian and enjoy life. I have one tattoo (I would love more but hubby is not keen) maybe you read this far, if so well done. Have a gold star and a Jelly Belly. and then check out the people I tagged.

Ha ha! a Meme!

I was tagged by Icklebabe

It's a cute photo meme thingy but I only seem to have lunch hours free these days, so while I'm nibbling I'm also blogging, which means I'm not using my home PC but my photobucket account (which actually has older pics on anyway!) but otherwise I'm sticking to the rules.

Anyhow these are the Rules:
1. Open your first (oldest) photo folder in your computer library (or in photobucket!)
2. Scroll to the 10th photo
3. Post the photo and the story behind it
4. Tag 5 or more people to continue the thread (lord knows who hasn't done this yet...... let me think)

Let the fun commence!

here is my pic

It's from 2007, when I went to The Discworld Scouting Jamboree, combining my love of fantasy (esp Terry Pratchett) and of camping, a true geek-fest. This picture is the Chief Scout (Terry Pratchett!) Saluting the flag. I had a wonderful time, as did DD. I met Terry and am proud to say he flirted with me about underwear. He is a really nice man and a genius author. He doesn't look bad in shorts.

Me! Me! Me!

So, since I started twittering and pimping out my blog I find I have blooming loads of followers of the blog! this is lovely, as I'm no longer writing into a void, but also it adds pressure. (despite my disclaimer that; hey; it is free!) and now, worse than that the 'memes' are piling up!

I always picture them like small, smug, spotty, bespectacled schoolboys, sitting at the front of the class and at every question rising from their seat (with out actually standing) and waving a desperate hand, shouting "sir! sir! please sir! Me! Me!" ......although sadly it's pronounced to rhyme with cream, but despite that I see them, lurking and crying "me me, do me!" and I haven't...so I'm sorry.

This is therefore a brief apologetic post saying I love that I made it into the realm of the popular people by getting tagged in memes and that I'm sorry I'm so crap at blogging, and that I really really will get some time soon to do the (now 5) memes that I'm tagged in.

But probably, you shouldn't hold you breath (or even you bladder)

see you soon!

Quick Sweary Post

A brief chat among mummies on twitter this morning made me remember how I talked about swearing for the first time with darling daughter (DD)

We were in the car, she was about 5 and had just started school and mixing with other children away form any parental guidance.

She suddenly said " I know some swear words"

"oh," says I, remaining calm "do you want to talk about them?"

"yes. One is SHIT and one is COCK"

so narrowly avoiding driving into oncoming traffic, and while controlling urge to giggle, I say

"oh! do you know what they mean?"

DD "no, Fiona told me them"

Me "well Shit is another word for poo, and cock is another work for a willy"

DD (disappointed) "well they are not very rude!"

Me (laughing) "well it depends, some people don't like them, even though they are just words, and no words are 'bad'; and because some people get sad when they hear them, we try not to use them, most people use them when they are very angry"

DD, "so if I stepped in dog poo I could say 'Oh no! I stepped in shit!'"

Me (really laughing now) "perfect use of the word shit!"

DD "OK"

we have never had to have such an elaborate conversation about swearing again, although I have had to explain what shag and fuck mean........she rarely uses them......except when very angry - for a 10 year old she's actually pretty good at using swear words sparingly and effectively! LOL
