  6. They look delicious! The crossed on mine didn't look as good as these (water and flour mixed and then piped on), will have to try pastry next time.

  10. @Anji happy to! I make the dough in the bread maker - but you can knead it by hand too.

    1 cup milk (use water if allergic- it still works)
    1 egg
    1 tablespoon butter
    3 cups white bread flour
    1 cup wholemeal bread flour
    1 or 2 tea spoon mixed spice
    1 tea spoon cinnamon
    3/4 cup sugar (caster)
    1 and 1/2 teaspoon dried yeast
    1 cup mixed fruit.

    knead and let rise to double size,
    then use pastry for the crosses.

    Makes 12 - bake for 15 -18 minutes at 200C or gas 6

    oh and you can glaze them with a mix of sugar dissolved in milk after they are cooked


    (grr missed out the butter the first time!)
